President  Xie Shunxing had a discussion with Mr. AHN IN, one of the Korean  delegates, on the relevant issues about PVR protection. President Xie  well explained the scope of protected plant genera and species, filing  fees & procedures of PVR application in China  and relevant issues about Varieties Protection, to cater to their  queries from Mr. AHN IN. During the conversation, a common conclusion  has been carried out, Varieties protection does not only protect plant  variety itself, but also need to protect the relevant fields in terms of  planting methods, planting management skills, particular facilities,  particular pesticide & fertilizer, and the brand of product by using  patent and trademark rights. Breeder rights should not be infringed by  fully utilizing thus entire protection system.

Mr. AHN IN also described the first listed PVR applications into Korea in year 2002, which is the first listed foreign application into Korea since the establishment of Seed Industry Law in 1998.

Rural  Development Administration of Korea has associated and cooperated with  CN-KnowHow for many years. Most of their PVR applications into China are entrusted to SA Hengda, a subsidiary of CN-KnowHow.
